Time and time again, a military jacket has proved itself to be a fall fashion trend. It doesn’t hurt that this army-inspired outerwear offers sun protection, too. With military staples making their way back to stores for Autumn 2016, I haven’t held myself back from getting a piece.
It’s Functional
What I love most about an army jacket is how it belongs so naturally in the urbanscape. It also seamlessly transitions in between chilly seasons. Needless to say, it gives off that effortless tough vibe—a quality that makes it such an “It” jacket for street style fashionistas. The full-length coverage also protects you from the season’s cold front and the skin-damaging UV rays at the same time. Who wouldn’t appreciate functionable fashion like that?
Love patches
Here, I’m wearing an army-inspired anorak with sewn-on patches. Patchwork are another trend for Fall 2016, and it’s easy to see why: the embellishments lend the anorak vintage personality. Then again, military uniforms usually come with embroidered elements, from nameplates to army rank patches. It’s denoted a sense of individuality that naturally rolled over to the fashion world.
Accessories
I stuck to an army palette while styling this military jacket, wearing it with a black tee, black trousers, and a pair of dark, round sunglasses. My accessory of choice was a shoulder bag with an embellished strap–the design splashed color to my outfit and gave it a glamorous flavor, but only just.
Finally, I pulled on a pair of pointy-toed glove heels—the Elliptic Kidskin Pumps from Céline—to finish off my look. It’s a nod to the grandma-chic style that has been trending hard lately; surprisingly, the chunky heels rendered a polished finish to the military look.
