Sports-inspired street style
Of all the biggest trends to dominate runways and streets this year, sports-inspired street style is probably my favorite. Denoting a “comfort meets style” aesthetic, it should really come as no surprise that athleisure has found its way into my sun-protective wardrobe. The ease and chicness of it all is irresistible. And I find myself stocking up on activewear that I can actually wear inside and outside the gym.
When wearing activewear street style-wise, you want to go for only a key piece or two, and then mix it up with other clothes from your wardrobe. The whole point of this trend is the challenge of adding the right sartorial pieces to make activewear be anything but just-for-the-gym. In the process, you maximize the sporty apparel you own.
My Look
There’s a lot of contrast in terms of textures, fabrics, and silhouettes when it comes to athleisure. For my outfit, I played with the sharp outline of a tailored jacket and the fluid shape of track pants. I wore a classic Ralph Lauren coat in taupe and a simple turtleneck underneath. For bottoms, I donned a pair of Adidas track pants. Crisp white kicks from YSL sealed the look.
Somehow, the silhouettes worked, and resulted to a modern get-up that was effortless and organic. I was going for a sophisticated, sporty vibe, which is why my outfit leans a little more towards the minimalist side. My favorite part about it, though, is that it makes moving around such a breeze—this is a perk that naturally comes with sports-inspired street style.
Of course, I topped my outfit with a pair of sunglasses. No matter the style I’m flaunting in the streets, I always go for complete sun protection.
